Persuading the Nation

When the United States of America went to war in 1941 the country was unprepared for wartime demands. American industries were producing consumer goods like automobiles and appliances, not ships and planes.

Converting America’s industrial production to war materiel, imposing rationing of consumer goods and recruiting workers required pursuading public opinion. Government agencies used propaganda posters like these to mobilize public support for the war.
